Change to Venturing Age Eligibility |

The Boy Scouts of America's National Executive Board has announced a change in the age and grade requirements for the Venturing program. Effective May 1, 2010, the youth that would like to register in the Venturing program must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements:
- 14 years of age
- 13 years of age AND completion of the eighth grade.
The previous requirements mandated that participants be 14 years of age and have completed the eighth grade. The change was made to accommodate boys and girls who have late birthdays, usually from June to September. Under the previous requirement, these boys and girls were not able to immediately join a Venturing crew with their friends when their class completed the eighth grade. Now that's no longer an issue. The maximum age remains unchanged at 20 years of age or less.

Scouter Appreciation Dinner 2010 |

The annual Northeast Iowa Council Scouter Appreciation Dinner is coming up soon! It will be held at the Lakeside Ballroom (1202 North 4th Street -- Guttenberg, IA 52052) on Saturday, March 13th. We are encouraging every crew to send a delegation of your adult leaders/advisors to the event. In case you have never been to the Scouter Appreciation Dinner, here is what you can expect:
- Social hour (from 5:30-6:30 PM) to start the night so you can talk with many of the fantastic adult volunteers in our council.
- A fantastic Dinner with Dessert
- Special 100th Anniversary of Scouting momento
- Year in Review Video summarizing all of this past years events in pictures.
- Award recognitions recognizing (click on each to download the nomination form):
 The event will be only $13 per person, you are more then welcome to bring your spouse or a guest. Please RSVP by calling the Scout Service Center at 563-556-4343.
REMINDER: If you would like to nominate a member of your Crew to receive any of the awards listed above, please download and complete the information on the nomination form and return to the Scout Service Center no later then 5 PM deadline on February 1st.
Deadline for Scouting Spirit Award has been extended to 5PM on March 1.
