Elections to the Venturing Officers Cabinet will be held at the Venturing Officers Association Annual Assemby (VOAAA Meetging) on Sunday July 11, 2010 at Camp C.S. Klaus. Nominations are being accepted now until May 31st if you would like to appear on the written ballot.

Eligibility Requirements
Any youth member of any Crew in the Council shall be eligible to run for any cabinet office position. Elected officers must be under the age of 21 years of age during their entire term of office, must be registered within the Northeast Iowa Council and recommended to have completed training at a Venture Leader Skills Course prior to taking office. Members of the Council Venturing Officers Cabinet shall be elected to a (1) one year term with no person serving more than two consecutive terms in the same position. Newly elected officers shall take office at the installation ceremony immediately following their election and shall continue to serve until the election of their successors, so long as they remain eligible to hold office.
Nominations
Nominations are due May 31st. Upon acceptance of the nominations, the Council Venturing Key 3 will contact the candidates about their intent to serve. A written ballot shall be prepared for the VOAAA. Nominations may still be taken from the floor at this meeting.
Election Process
All elections shall be conducted by written ballot. A majority (over 50%) of votes cast shall be necessary to elect. Should no member receive a majority vote, the candidate with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated from contention and another vote will be taken, repeating until one member receives a majority vote. Election of Officers shall begin with the election of Council Venturing President and proceed in order. Installation of officers shall be performed immediately following the election. |

NEW: Ultimate Frisbee Venturing Crew |

The Loras College Ultimate Club is planning on starting a new Venturing Crew, focused solely on Ultimate Frisbee. The Crew has yet to decide on a Crew number, but it will be posted here when it has been decided. This program is for high school students (boys and girls), up through age 20. Here are the details:
- First meeting: Wednesday, April 7th at 6:30 p.m until 8:00 p.m.
- Location: Faber Clarke Field, Loras College (Corner of Cox St. and Loras Blvd, down the steps)
- Annual Fee: $20, which includes your annual registration fee and equipment for the program
 This Venturing Ultimate Frisbee Program will meet twice a week on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30- 8:00 p.m at the Faber Clarke Field at Loras College. If the weather becomes unsuitable then the program will be cancelled for that evening. During the first and second meetings, we will develop our skills and gain a better understanding of the rules of the game. We will also be engaging in multiple games, potentially against other teams.
We will be accepting registration for the first 40-50 paid participants so make sure you register as soon as possible! Send back the registration form with a parent’s signature (click here for a sample of how to fill out the form) along with your check for $20 (made out to Venturing) to Venturing, P.O Box 732, Dubuque IA 52004-0732. Invite your friends, but remember we have limited space so register quickly. Students with and without experience in ultimate frisbee are encouraged to participate. This ultimate frisbee program is designed to create fun opportunities, learn the basics of the sport and help develop additional skills for more advanced players. Any interested students between the ages of 14-18 years of age are encouraged to participate. Parents are also encouraged to attend the first meeting. We hope to see you there!

Venturepalooza General Information |

This is an event that you will not want to miss... after much success the last two years, this year looks to be the best Venturepalooza yet! The Northeast Iowa Council Venturing Officers Cabinet has been working hard at planning an awesome event for all Venturers! This year we are also extending an invitation to Out-of-council Venturing Crews to come join in on the fun!

Check-in: 6:30 - 8:00 PM Friday night

The theme for the weekend is "Clue"! You will be teamed up with other Venturers to complete some awesome missions to help find the clues and solve the mystery. Details on events and teams will be announced on Friday night so that you can plan out strategy with your entire team to complete your mission. Back by popular demand, we will have Mr. Grant returning again this year to instruct our pistol and high powered rifle range! The shooting range has been by far the most popular activity each of the last 2 years and we are glad to have him back!
Of course... this weekend will include much more! We are planning some great social activities and games that everyone can enjoy. Don't forget your swimsuit!
Be sure to tell your friends and get your Crews signed up before June 25th!!!

2010 Venturing Leadership Award |

Congratulations to Jane Schreiber (Crew 48) and Karen Althoff (Crew 61), on receiving the 2010 Venturing Leadership Award at the Northeast Iowa Council Recognition dinner on March 14, 2010. This year was the first year the the NE Iowa Council has presented this award, and we have two fantastic recipients.
Jane is an Advisor with Crew 48 and was a key member in organizing the nCrew 48 several years ago. She has continued to provide assistance in organizing and participating on several high adventure activities as well as working to help the Crew meet it's yearly goals. Jane regularly attends monthly Venturing roundtable meetings as well as assist in staffing the annual NE Iowa Council Venturepalooza Event.
Karen is a long time scouter in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Venturing. An Advisor with Crew 61 she has been a major contributor to continued recruitment efforts that have helped the crew double in size since she joined. She can be found on almost every Crew activity and adventure, often bringing a delicious dessert or homemade snack. Additionally Karen assists the council as a Venturing Adult Leader Trainer and as a staffer at the annual Venturepalooza event.
